In recent years, especially with the introduction of information technology, control technology of ornamental fountains has evolved drastically, so there are increasing possibilities of control, creation, interaction and innovation in the field of Engineering and Water Architecture. Thus are born digital fountains, fountains governed by computer in which the only limit to the possibilities of water is in the designer’s imagination.

Фонтаны теперь – не просто струйки, это – синтез современных технологий, гидродинамики, архитектуры и декора в управлении водой.

Durante los últimos años, especialmente con la introducción de la informática, la tecnología para el control de las fuentes ornamentales ha evolucionado drásticamente, de modo que cada vez son mayores las posibilidades de control, creación, interacción e innovación en el campo de la Ingeniería y Arquitectura del Agua. Es así como nacen las fuentes digitales, fuentes gobernadas por ordenador en el que el único límite a las posibilidades del agua se encuentra en la imaginación del diseñador.

All these innovations were presented at the conference “Water Architecture”, by the prestigious Spanish inventor Juan Carretero Llorente.

Todas estas innovaciones fueron presentadas en la conferencia “La Arquitectura del Agua”, impartida por el prestigioso inventor español Juan Carretero Llorente.

Digital Fountains represent a revolution not only in the traditional field of fountains as ornament, but allowing the integration of the fountain in the architecture of the city, becoming an element with which artists and architects can use when creating unique spaces and meeting points for the people.

Las fuentes digitales suponen una revolución no sólo en el campo tradicional de las fuentes como elemento de ornamentación, si no que permite la integración de la fuente en la propia arquitectura de la ciudad, convirtiéndose en un elemento más con el que los artistas y arquitectos pueden contar a la hora de crear espacios únicos y diferenciadores.

One of the best examples of this is the creation of the Digital Water Curtain (DWC for its acronym in English). The Digital Water Curtain functions as a “printer of water”, reproducing graphics, text, images and patterns by fragmenting Curtain jets. This system produces water segments that act as pixels, creating a striking display that reproduces the cascading water. Thus, the DWC acts not only as a design element, refreshing and entertaining, but also allows transferring information in text and graphics, creating visual billboards, automatic doors that open the passing of visitors, and more.

Una de las mejores muestras de ello, es la creación de la Cortina de Agua Digital (DWC por sus siglas en inglés, Digital Water Curtain). La Cortina de Agua funciona como una “impresora de agua”, reproduciendo gráficos, textos, imágenes y patrones mediante la fragmentación de los surtidores de la Cortina. Este sistema produce segmentos de agua que actúan como pixeles, creando un sorprendente display que se reproduce al caer el agua. De este modo, la DWC actúa no solo como un elemento de diseño, refrescante y entretenimiento, sino también permite la transferencia de información de texto y gráficos, la creación de tablones de anuncios visuales, puertas automáticas que se abren al paso de los visitantes, y mucho más.

Juan Carretero Llorente is inventor and CEO of the famous Spanish firm Lumiartecnia International, which for three generations and over 60 years, specializes in the development of the “Water Architecture”, which can be interpreted as the development of fountains of high technology for urban spaces.
