Aquatic Ballet in the Gardens of the Alcázar of Seville.

The Naturaleza Encendida light show premieres at the Alcázar of Seville.

Night show in the Gardens of the Alcázar of Seville.

‘Corrientes’, by Naturaleza Encendida, premieres, the night show in the Gardens of the Alcázar of Seville where the lights and sounds narrate the maritime history of the city and the artistic styles of the royal palace.

From now on, strolling through the Alcázar Gardens in Seville will offer something more than just enjoying the botanical variety and the monuments. Although, you will have to pay close attention to the ground. Attention is easily caught by the audiovisual show offered by Naturaleza Encendida, the new leisure offer that was presented this Wednesday in the Mudejar complex and which Sevillians and tourists can enjoy until April 30. This first edition is entitled Corrientes. It is a tribute to the city’s maritime past, as well as being a tour of the different styles that predominate in the oldest royal palace in use on the old continent.

The chromatic variety combined with the nature and architecture of the Alcázar make Naturaleza Encendida a memorable spectacle.

You have to wait until nightfall for these gardens to show off all their colours, which have been installed by Letsgo, the promoter of the new show, which has had the collaboration of Repsol. Blues, reds, yellows… A chromatic variety that enhances the scenic beauty of this site, as well as its buildings.

The visit lasts 45 minutes. Lights, music and certain special effects play a fundamental role. Two thematic axes take centre stage. On the one hand, the sea voyages that made Seville the capital of the world; and on the other, the artistic influences that predominate in the Alcázar. This last aspect is divided into “three expeditions”. These are the Islamic voyage (the origin of the palace), the Renaissance (with the splendour of Emperor Charles I of Spain and V of Germany) and the Romantic one, with the figure of Queen Isabel II.

21 artistic light interventions are used, using various technologies. This section includes video projections, mapping, LED lights and structures manufactured specifically for this project, which has been announced for months.

The result is “a carbon-neutral immersive experience,” according to Repsol, whose participation has been essential to bringing the show to fruition.

Lumiartecnia Internacional has installed an Aquatic Ballet with Arabic reminiscences, 2 Aquatic Ballet fountains in the form of 32 parabolic jets that recall the Generalife gardens. These parabolic jets form 2 perfect water tunnels where the water features dance, change height and colour to the rhythm of the immersive music composed for this show.

The Controller computer system is synchronized with the general control of the light and special effects show thanks to its advanced software that allows it to communicate with any other computer to receive and transmit orders in real time.

This sensory experience through the monument’s gardens will be divided into three ‘journeys’: Islamic, Renaissance and Romantic.

The Islamic journey will be the first chapter of the exhibition, and will take place in the English Garden. Through the expedition of a young caliph from Iraq to Seville and one of the dreams he has while sleeping, we will learn about different types of exotic flora and fauna that have passed through the Alcázar, as well as the Arabic calligraphy present on tiles and buildings in the place. The anecdotes of Abd al-Rahman I will also be present during this section of the tour.

Once we reach the Jardin des Dames, the Renaissance journey begins. This section refers to the transoceanic voyages that took place during the 16th century. The narrative will therefore revolve around the ancient legend of a crew that crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The tale reaches its climax when the sailors reach a jungle after facing and overcoming the adversities that Neptune, the god of the sea, has imposed on them.

Finally, the romantic journey will take place in 19th century Seville, and will be performed in the Garden of Poets. This chapter pays tribute to the Generation of ’27, and includes literary references in which some of the plants in the gardens appear, such as the cypress or the boxwood.
